About 

The Nominations Committee solicits nominations for Executive Committee members, develops a ballot and conducts the annual WASFAA election as well as reports the election results.

Elected WASFAA positions include:

President - Three year commitment as President-Elect, President, and Past-President

Treasurer - Three year commitment as Treasurer-Elect, Treasurer, and Past-Treasurer

Secretary - Two year commitment

Member-At-Large - Two year commitment. Two members at large are elected each year for a two year period. There are four total members-at-large at a given time.

 

WASFAA Position Descriptions

President‑Elect

  • Attend each WASFAA Executive Committee meeting, and each WASFAA Business meeting.  Executive Committee meetings are held at each conference and between conferences, typically at the next conference site
  • Participate in Executive Committee meetings, provide input and opinions, offer ideas, vote on issues, etc.
  • Review and become familiar with the WASFAA Handbook
  • Assist in establishing goals for the association at the President’s Retreat.
  • Assist the President in the discharge of duties and assume the responsibilities of the President in the event of absence or incapacity of the President
  • Serve on the Pre-Collegiate School Relations Committee
  • Appoint Chair of the Conference Committee (Refer to specific Committee description)
  • Arrange upcoming year's Committees and Chairs
  • Plan annual President’s Retreat, for year of Presidency, to plan for the future of the Association.  Typical attendance is the Executive Committee and Committee Chairs.
  • Serve as a member of the Finance Committee
  • Attend NASFAA’s Leadership Training held in Washington D.C., in spring, paid for by WASFAA

Secretary

  • Attend each WASFAA Executive Committee meeting and each WASFAA Business meeting.  Business meetings are held at each conference.  Executive Committee meetings are held at each conference and between conferences, typically at the next conference site
  • Participate in Executive Committee meetings, provide input and opinions, offer ideas, vote on issues, etc.
  • Record proceedings at all Executive Committee meetings and WASFAA business meetings
  • Prepare and make available Executive Committee and WASFAA business meeting minutes to committee members and attendees; provide minutes for the WASFAA website
  • Maintain all official records, other than financial; record any Standing Rules adopted by the association;
  • Assist in establishing goals for the association at the President’s Retreat.
  • Participate in the annual review and update of the WASFAA Handbook.  Update handbook after executive and business meetings if changes are reflected in the minutes.
  • Provide copy of all minutes to the Archivist.

Treasurer-Elect

  • Attend each WASFAA Executive Committee meeting and each WASFAA Business meeting.  Executive Committee meetings are held at each conference and between conferences, typically at the next conference site
  • Participate in Executive Committee meetings, provide input and opinions, offer ideas, vote on issues, etc.
  • Participate in the annual review and update of the WASFAA Handbook
  • Assist in establishing goals for the association at President’s Retreat 
  • Maintain adequate and appropriate records of all financial transactions for the association
  • Pay bills
  • Maintain checkbook
  • Serve as member of Finance Committee (Refer to specific committee description for duties)
  • Update reimbursement form as needed.
  • In conjunction with Treasurer-Elect Prepare a year‑end report at the conclusion of term & forward to Archives Committee
  • Attend NASFAA’s Leadership Training in Washington D.C. paid for by WASFAA

Member‑at‑Large

  • Attend each WASFAA Executive Committee meeting and each WASFAA Business meeting.  Executive Committee meetings are held at each conference and between conferences, typically at the next conference site
  • Participate in Executive Committee meetings, provide input and opinions, offer ideas, vote on issues, etc.
  • Participate in the annual review and update of the WASFAA Handbook
  • Assist in establishing goals for the association at President’s Retreat
  • Serve as a member of at least one WASFAA committee in addition to Executive Committee.
  • Serve as the eyes and ears of the membership and report concerns to the Executive Committee
  • Assist the President or Executive Committee as duties “as assigned” (such as Parliamentarian)
