A financial aid specialist advises current and prospective students with financial aid programs available and application procedures; supports students applying for financial aid and performs other duties needed to maintain and facilitate financial aid awarding. Assists in developing and implementing proactive strategies to reduce the institution’s cohort default rate.

Work is generally diversified requiring judgment, analysis and decision-making according to established practices and procedures.  Supervision received is general.  Daily responsibilities are completed independently using established policies and general objectives with interaction with supervisor limited to problems or unusual conditions.

At Milwaukee Area Technical College, our highly qualified, dedicated employees drive our mission: transforming lives, industry and community.

MATC’s diverse team members — 42% of whom are people of color — work with a purpose to serve the students who make us one of the most diverse two-year institutions of higher education in the Midwest. The majority of our students — 55% — are students of color.

With 170-plus programs to get students career ready in as little as one to two years and the opportunity to start a four-year degree at a fraction of the cost, MATC is meeting the needs of the community we share and committed to eliminating equity gaps in higher education. We help individuals advance to higher paying jobs and fulfill their career dreams.

Sounds like a purpose worth working for, right?

In addition to supporting student success, the college focuses on employee well-being and offers team members a host of benefits including:

    • Highly-competitive paid-time off opportunities with 12 paid holidays including Dr. King Day and Juneteenth Day
    • Generous, comprehensive benefit plans
    • Flexible work opportunities offered through a newly-adopted permanent policy
    • A sabbatical program
    • Tuition reimbursement for employees and tuition remission for employees and immediate family members
    • A new Leadership Academy and other professional development opportunities
