    ATTENTION:

    The Division of Enrollment Management seeks a Director of Financial Aid.

    JOB DETAILS:

    The Director of Financial Aid is a 12-month, full-time position that reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment and Retention. The individual will work as a team member in a fast-paced workplace focused on customer service providing support to all students at the university. The financial aid director oversees all aspects of student financial aid administration, day-to-day management and awarding of student financial assistance in accordance with applicable rules, regulations and policies. The director is a key administrator in promoting and supporting multiple institutional plans and activities related to student success, retention, graduation and supporting diversity efforts. The director will work collaboratively with offices, including but not limited to the Registrar, the Bursar, Undergraduate Admissions, Graduate Admissions, University Marketing and Communications, Academic Advising to ensure consistent, responsive and timely delivery of high quality and coordinated services to all constituencies. The director will participate in or lead campus committees where student financial aid is an important factor. The director will be responsible for all compliance within the office including developing and monitoring all policies and procedures and reporting to federal, state, and UW System as necessary. The director will coordinate all outreach programs coordinating with admissions, orientation and local schools. The director will be responsible for the departmental budget. Finally, the director will complete all trainings and drills as required for the position.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Seven or more years of administrative experience in student financial aid programs in a comprehensive community college or university
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and motivate personnel.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of the financial aid function and the administration of such functions
    • Demonstrated knowledge of the planning, implementation and monitoring of budgets in an educational environment
    • Knowledge of FERPA and other privacy laws and regulations
    • Commitment to the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater mission and vision

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Additional educational experience (Master's degree, Doctoral degree)
    • Previous leadership experience (assistant, associate or director of financial aid) in the administration of student financial aid programs.
    • Previous experience with financial aid programs were designed specifically to support university recruitment, retention and graduation goals.
    • Additional experience beyond 7 years in a financial aid office or university setting.
    • Previous use of People Soft student information system.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Hire, train and supervise all staff within the financial aid department.
    2. Work closely with multiple departments across the university to ensure consistent, responsive and timely delivery of high quality and coordinated services to all constituencies.
    3. Assist with the development, implementation, monitoring, and revision of policies and procedures relating to financial aid. Monitor internal controls and training processes to ensure consistent application of policies and procedures for all activities related to the financial aid program.
    4. Counsel individual students and family members regarding student financial aid programs.
    5. Develop and implement programs to support university recruitment, retention, graduation and other student success goals.
    6. Serve as a liaison to Federal, state, local and professional agencies on financial aid matters, including Federal, state and UW System reviews and audits.
    7. Coordinate student and parent programming activities related to financial aid processes and financing options, including but not limited to admissions and orientation sessions, entrance and exit counseling, and financial management workshops.
    8. Manage the financial aid budget.
    9. Lead or participate in university committees and programs as needed.
    10. Serve as a resource on how financial aid can serve as a tool for meeting retention, graduation, diversity, and other university goals.
    11. Participate in professional organizations, conferences and workshops when appropriate.
    12. Complete all training and drills as required for the position.
    13. Additional duties as assigned.

    DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:

    The Division of Enrollment Management consists of seven departments including: Admissions, Academic Advising, First Year Experience, Campus Tutorial Services, Financial Aid, International Student Services, and Registrar. The Division provides exceptional service to all UW-Whitewater students.
