    Essential Job Functions

    UW-Green Bay is a regional comprehensive University that has strong community connections within the 16-county region and provides outreach to students and families to ensure all students are offered a pathway to their degree. UW-Green Bay has need-based scholarships which focus on removing financial barriers so students can persist in achieving their degrees. Financial aid is an integral part of student success by providing accurate information, excellent student service and aid to students who qualify. Under the direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Services, the Director of Financial Aid will lead their team and advise others across campus on strategy and implementation of financial aid. The director develops, implements, documents and evaluates all financial aid and scholarship programs. The director works strategically and collaboratively to recruit and retain students for the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay at all four of its campuses (Green Bay, Manitowoc, Marinette and Sheboygan.)   The director is responsible for the awarding of and disbursement of the annual financial aid expenditures, a comprehensive financial aid budget of approximately $42 Million including federal, state, institution and foundation aid. The director also ensures compliance with regulatory guidelines and unit strategy in support of awarding financial aid to qualifying students. The Financial Aid Director oversees Veterans Services which is located within the Financial Aid Office.

    This position includes the following responsibilities:

    • Directs strategic planning initiatives and establishes unit objectives to ensure appropriate use of resources and alignment with the strategic plan.
    • Develops operating policies and procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and unit objectives including analyze and interpret federal, state, institutional, NCAA, Dept. of Defense, Veterans Administration, etc. regulations and guidance to maximize compliance efforts.
    • Develops and audits the unit budget.
    • Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees.
    • Serves as the unit liaison to internal and external stakeholder groups providing organizational information and representing the interests of the unit.
    • Advises institutional leadership and unit leadership on financial aid matters.
    • Work with staff and developers to properly implement regulatory requirements into programming for our Student Information System or other related products for the adequate awarding, disbursing, tracking, etc. of all aid sources.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree at time of application 
    • 4 years of direct experience leading a comprehensive financial aid operation
    • Extensive current knowledge of federal and state regulations related to financial aid management and compliance
    • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple offices to assist with the proper administration of aid

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Master’s degree 
    • In-depth knowledge of the setup and operation of PeopleSoft Student Information system
    • Knowledge and understanding of NCAA, Dept. of Defense and Veteran’s Administration regulations and requirements
