    The Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) seeks a Director of Financial Aid to provide leadership and direction for all aspects of the college’s financial aid program.  The Director of Financial Aid, under the supervision of the Vice President for Financial Affairs, ensures compliance with federal, state, and college policies, procedures, and regulations that pertain to eligibility determination, awarding, and disbursement of financial aid.  The anticipated start date for this position is mid-January 2022.

     

    Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

     

    • Direct and coordinate all aspects of MIAD’s participation in federal, state, private and institutional financial aid programs.
      • Administer all federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs including: PELL, SEOG, Direct Lending, and work-study, WTG and other state programs, MIAD grants and scholarships.
      • Maintain ECAR and PPA certifications for the college.
      • Ensure institutional compliance with all required federal and state rules and regulations.
      • Prepare all required federal and state reports including the Fiscal Operation Report and Application to Participate (FISAP).
      • Assist with annual A-133 compliance audit.
      • Counsel and advise students and their families about all aspects of the financial aid process.
      • Coordinate the dissemination of MIAD’s information on financial aid to prospective and current students and their families.
    • Support overall student recruitment, retention, and enrollment goals of MIAD in consultation with the Vice President for Enrollment Management, Director of Admission, and other college officials.
    • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for the awarding of need-based institutional financial aid, which are consistent with the goals of the institution.
    • Manage and prepare the institutional budget for scholarships and grants.
    • Develop and implement strategic uses of financial aid; work cooperatively with the Director of Admissions to implement strategic uses of financial to enhance recruitment opportunities.
    • Provide data for statistical reports including IPEDS, college guides, and accrediting bodies.
    • Prepare reports for college officials to assist decision making in regards to institutional budgeting and planning including information on loan indebtedness, income, scholarship and other relevant data.
    • Develop financial aid publications and communications including printed and website materials.
    • Stay current with changes and keep up with the pulse of trends in the financial aid delivery system.  Respond to changes and advise college officials of impact to the college.  Participate in relevant training activities at the local, regional, and national levels.
    • Support and abide by rules, regulations, guidelines and principles of the college and the financial aid profession; and serve as a role model for students.
    • Stay current on all financial aid regulations and policies by subscribing to list-servs, reading all financial aid regulations, policies, and procedures that are distributed by federal, state, and institutional sources, network with other financial aid officers, and attend workshops, conferences, and seminars.
    • Foster a work environment that is respectful and inclusive of the diverse backgrounds of students, faculty, and staff.

     

    Required Qualifications and Experience:

     

    • Minimum of 5-6 years’ successful experience in financial aid.
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Assistant Director of Financial Aid (other experience may be considered).
    • Experience in private, non-for-profit higher education is a plus.
    • Experience with PowerFaids and relational databases (Jenzabar, a plus)
    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • Must have ability to regularly work on-site to foster and contribute to the in-person experience.
