WHO WE ARE: A collective group of financial aid professionals with a common goal to provide comprehensive training and development opportunities to the association through multiple options. This supports WASFAA's mission to promote and provide quality administration of financial aid programs in Wisconsin's postsecondary institutions.
WHAT WE DO: Each year we conduct a series of training and professional development opportunities ranging from drive-in workshops, new professionals sessions, and leadership trainings that cater to the needs of financial aid administrators and office professionals.

A state-wide training/drive-in workshop provided every fall (approximately October) that outlines a specified topic given by NASFAA. Sites are designated across the state to maximize participation to all members. There is usually no charge for participation but registration is required which is typically available mid-September.
A comprehensive fundamentals training that outlines core topics in financial aid. This institute uses core materials from NASFAA to target topics that are essential for new professionals or those that need a refresher about the financial aid field. This training is offered every fall during the Fall WASFAA Conference. A nominal fee is charged to supplement the cost for materials. Registration information is available when the Fall Conference registration opens.
A biennial retreat specifically designed for office professionals to target common topics in financial aid, customer service and professional development. This retreat is open to all front desk and support staff within Wisconsin.
A biennial program specifically designed to target and highlight upcoming financial aid professionals who have demonstrated leadership potential within their offices and in the association. The participants within the WASFAA Leadership Retreat are nominated to participate in the program which focuses on developing leadership skills, change analysis, personality and other professional development opportunities.
All participants are asked for a 6-month committment for the program. Historically, leadership retreat graduates have advanced personally and professionally while becoming involved in the association by fulfilling roles like Committee Co-chairs, members of the Executive Board, or Presidents or WASFAA. This opportunity is rewarding and strongly recommended for those who desire to be an aspiring leader in the future.

Office Professionals Retreat
The 2016 Office Professionals Retreat will take place on the campus of St. Norbert College in DePere, Wisconsin. The event is June 7-8, 2016 and focuses on customer service, financial aid, health and wellness, leadership, and team building for all those who are interested. Primarily this event is geared for front desk, administrative, and support staff within the financial aid office, but it’s open for all to attend who are interested. Attendees will receive a "Certification of Professional Development and Training" Certificate for attending. It's a great way to add to your professional development portfolio!

How much does it cost? The Office Professionals Retreat is $50.00 per person for WASFAA members and $95.00 per person for non-members. The registration fee can be paid for by check, credit card, or PayPal after completing the retreat registration.
Do I have to pay for my lodging? Yes! Although, WASFAA covers all meals for this event, your institution will be responsible for covering your lodging - one night stay. St. Norbert’s Facility , the Ascend Collection Kress Inn, is a former hotel that is owned and operated by the school. It’s a wonderful facility! What’s on the agenda? Tentative topics to be covered are Prior-Prior Year, Campus Safety, Working with Difficult Students and Families, Team Building, Strategies for Unfriendly Customers, Stress Management, The Benefits of Networking and more. Each month organizations like the Department of Education, NASFAA, Federal loan servicers and other entities offer free training to the financial aid community. The "Training Corner's" purpose is to allow the WASFAA membership to have a centralized place where they can access and review what is being offered.
Periodically, the training committee will spotlight an upcoming training that could be of great interest to the financial aid community.
